Start-Up Factory Kumasi, November 19th - 30th, 2016, in Ghana

In the scope of the project "Start Up Factory Kumasi - Paderborn" funded by the DAAD, the research assistant Alexander Olenberg and the student Maike Waldhoff from the Chair of Fluid Process Engineering (FVT), traveled from the 19/11/-30/11/2016 along with 7 further staff and students from the University of Paderborn to Ghana. The seven students from the University of Paderborn come from diverse backgrounds as economics, industrial engineering and mechanical engineering. They were accompanied by 3 research assistants from the chairs Electrical Energy Technology – Sustainable Energy Concepts (NEK), International Business and FVT.

Through the project, a young entrepreneur in Ghana is supported in the realization of a hybrid solar dryer. A further focus is the cooperation between universities and companies. Fifteen students from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi work together with the German students on tasks involving regulation, business planning, photovoltaic and energy management.

At the FVT, a thermal analysis study for the solar dryer is being conducted within the scope of a study thesis.
