Lukas Bolenz presented a scientific poster entitled "Tomographic investigations of the fluid dynamics of viscous systems in packed columns".
Our Chair congratulates Sebastian Rieks who is awarded his doctorate with distinction on November 7th, 2018. The title of his dissertation is “Modelling and numerical simulation of coupled transport phenomena in capillary structures of small-scale distillation processes for vapour-liquid binary systems”. A presentation of his thesis took place in the presence of interested listeners and family. Afterwards he defended his thesis in front of the…
Our Chair congratulates Mark Piper who successfully awarded his doctorate on September 7th, 2018. The title of his dissertation is “Analysis of fluid dynamics and heat transfer in pillow-plate heat exchangers.”.A presentation of his thesis took place in the presence of colleagues, friends and family. Afterwards he defended his thesis successfully in front of the scientific jury. From 2011 Mr. Piper worked at our Chair in the fields of research,…
Since the midst of July Nils Mügge works as a research assistant in our group. Nils graduated with as masters from FH Bielefeld and wrote his thesis with the title "Method development for the numeric multi flow simulation in dish washers" at Miele & Cie. KG in Gütersloh. His scientific work will focus on heat transfer in Isobaric Expansion Engines (IEE). We wish him all the best for his start in Paderborn!
The chair of Fluid Process Engineering welcomes a new member of the scientific staff. Mike Bothe studied Chemical Engineering at TU Dortmund University and graduated with a master thesis entitled "Theoretische Betrachtung des laminaren Strahlzerfalls am Rotationszerstäuber". We wish him a successful start in Paderborn.
From June 13th to June 15th, the Chairs of “Fluid Process Engineering”, “Particle Technology” and “Thermodynamics and Energy Technology” hosted an excursion to ACHEMA at Frankfurt for a group of students. ACHEMA can be considered as the world's leading exhibition for chemical engineering and the process industry. While students could explore the exhibition on their own, the chairs also offered several guided tours for the students where special…
At our last visit in November many ideas for process optimizations were discussed. In the meantime, these ideas were evaluated by means of CFD simulations and the results were presented at KNUST. This time the students Viola Hollenhorst and Anna Hoppe were accompanied by our co-worker Steve Flechsig. Besides presenting our results, we inspected some pilot plants and deepened the intercultural exchange with the KNUST students.A detailed travel…
