Experimental setup for the investigation of single-phase convective heat transfer, pressure drop and evaporation in pillow-plates

Heat exchanger:
• construction type: pillow-plate (0.3 m width and 1 m in length)
• measurement of the wall surface temperatures and the pressures along the flow of the media

Operating conditions: determination of single-phase heat transfer and pressure drop:
• heat flux up to 8 kW/m2
• operating pressures: 1 bis 8 bar abs
• operating temperatures: 10 bis 90°C
• media: water, monoethyleneglycol, water/ monoethyleneglycol-mixtures, other fluids possible
• liquid volume of the experimental medium: approx. 70l

Operating conditions: determination of heat transfer with evaporation on the inner side:
• heat flux up to 8 kW/m2
• operating pressures: 0.01 to 10 bar abs
• operation temperatures: -10 bis 90°C
• forced circulation and thermosyphon mode
• media: water, R134a, other fluids possible
• liquid volume of the experimental medium: approx. 20l

Measurement technique:
• temperature: 15 Pt1000 class A four-wire circuit for determination of the fluid and wall temperatures, 4 thermocouple measuring points in the cooling water circuit
• pressure: 3 absolute and differential pressures
• flow rates: 2 coriolis flow sensors (experimental media and cooling water), 3 impeller flow sensors for the determination of the vapor fraction in the evaporation experiments
