We congratulate Stefan Lammers to the successful completion of his doctoral studies on "Development of a method for the systematic development of design guidelines for a production-oriented support structure design in laser beam melting". Stefan Lammers focussed on the systematic examination and evaluation of support structures for metal-powder based Laser Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB/M). Based on the method developed by him, support structures can by analyzed demand and production-oriented and design guidelines can be derived as a decision-making tool for design engineers.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Roland Lachmeyer, head of the Institute of Product Development and Equipment Construction at the Leibniz University Hannover, was the co-advisor.
In addition to his research and teaching activities, Stefan Lammers was also involved in various public and bilateral projects as well as in public relations and committee work at the KAt and DMRC.
From November 2014 to September 2023, he was employed as a research associate at the Chair of Design and Drive Technology and at the DMRC; his research focussed on metal-powder based laser beam melting where he not only worked on analyzing support structures relating to his doctoral studies, but also co-developed applications in motor sports and drive technology because of his participation in public projects.
Stefan Lammers is currently working as a Senior Engineer for Mechanical Validation at Infineon Technologies in Warstein. We thank him for his active support at the Chair of Design and Drive Engineering and the DMRC and wish him all the best for his professional and personal future!
