Emphasizing and rewarding exceptional achievements – true to this motto, the FERCHAU GmbH, in close cooperation with the Chair of Design and Drive Technology (KAt) at Paderborn University, has been granting the FERCHAU Advancement Award since 2005. Mechanical engineering students in their fourth semester of the basic study program are eligible to apply. This year, the applicants were asked to develop a modular collective gear unit for a production conveyor belt and thoroughly document the design.
Despite and because of this year’s particular challenges in connection with Covid-19, it was important to the Chair and FERCHAU to grant the award even in this unusual year, thus honoring exceptional student achievements. Like so many ceremonies, this one also had to be conducted digitally. Via video conference Detlef Palm, branch manager of FERCHAU GmbH Paderborn and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Detmar Zimmer honored Erik Marx (first place), Lukas Rußkamp, Marc Budde, Hendrik Knapp and Moritz Lienen (second place) as well as Felix Vollenkemper (third place).
