In July 2024, the 11th International Conference on Design Computing and Cognition (DCC) took place at Concordia University in Montreal, focusing on the integration of artificial intelligence, cognitive science, neuroscience and computational theories in product design. For our chair, Niclas Meihöfener had the honor to participate in this event and present a poster on the current topic of generalization of AI-assisted structural optimization.
In addition to the presentations, the conference offered several practice-oriented workshops that are both inspiring and trend-setting for the future of design research. Of particular note are the following workshops, which emphasized the importance of knowledge generation and processing in the context of modern technologies and AI:
- Rethinking How 'Design Spaces' are Constructed, Represented and Explored and Collecting Design Knowledge for Generative AI Systems
- Collecting Design Knowledge for Generative AI Systems and Collecting Design Knowledge for Generative AI Systems
