Since the beginning of April, Iman Hami Dindar joined the team of our chair as a research assistant. Iman graduated from University of Paderborn with a master thesis on "Modelling and simulation of the reactive absorption of CO2 with N-acetylglucosamine". In his research work, he will focus on amino sugars as solvents for CO2 capture and the modelling of reactive absorption processes. We wish him every success in this work!

The annual meeting of the ProcessNet groups Heat and Mass Transfer took place in Erfurt from 12 - 13 March. Besides Professor Kenig, the scientific assistants Andreas Schulz and Christian Wecker took part. They presented their current results from two completed DFG projects in the field of mass transfer on two posters.

The annual meeting of the ProcessNet group Energy Process Engineering took place from March 4th to 5th in Frankfurt am Main. Our research assistants Matti Grabo and Nils Mügge participated with own contributions. Matti Grabo showed results of the project MoLaWS during a presentation and Nils Mügge showed a poster with the current status of his research on innovative heat engines.

Our former colleague Sebastian Rieks received the prize for outstanding dissertations at the New Year's Reception of the University of Paderborn on January 19. The prize is awarded by the Presidential Board of the University and is endowed with 2,000 Euros. On November 7th to 8th, Prof. Kenig and Venkatesh Inguva visited KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden to participate in the ENFLOW project kick-off meeting with industrial partners GasQual AB and Inoson GmbH. Discussions about designing an ultrasonic gas quality meter took place and Venkatesh Inguva presented the capabilities of computational fluid dynamics to help in solving the project tasks.

With deep sadness, we learned of the death of our colleague Franz Kapla. He passed away on November 6th, 2019, after a long and serious illness. Franz Kapla started working as a technician at Paderborn University in 1987, and over time, he became an expert in the field of Fluid Process Engineering.
