On 05/09/2017 the first Belgium Day took place at Paderborn University on the topic “Belgium and Europe”. Beside talks and discussions there was a poster presentation in which our research assistant Lukas Bolenz presented our cooperation with the group of Prof. Dominique Toye from University of Liège. In the scope of this cooperation we are able to use the tomograph in Liège for generating images of the liquid distribution in structured packings.…
Our research assistant Torben Knoke attended the annual meeting of the ProcessNet group "Energy Process Engineering", held in Frankfurt a.M. on March 21st and 22nd. During his lecture on “Model-based analysis of novel heat engines for low-grade waste-heat conversion” he presented results of our cooperation with the Dutch company Encontech B.V.
Since April 2017, a new research assistant has joined our team. Matti Grabo finished his studies on „Sustainable Innovative Energy Engineering“ with his master's thesis entitled „Numerical Modeling of Flow in a Mist Eliminator for Geothermal Power Plants“ at the University of Iceland.

Our former research assistant Roland Engberg was awarded by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering with the dSPACE-price for the best PhD thesis titled „Single droplets in liquid/liquid systems: numerical investigation of fluid dynamics, mass transfer and Marangoni convection“.
