Torsion test rig

Welcome to the page for the torsional vibration test rig at the Chair of Design and Drive Technology (KAt) at Paderborn University! Our in-house developed test rig offers a wide range of possibilities for different test approaches. In its current configuration, we can test torques of up to 750 Nm.

Our test rig generates both a varying torsional torque and rising torque curves. The test torque is generated by centrifugal forces, which produce a torque on the mounted oscillating cross. We are able to test material- or application-specific test specimens, components or assemblies – such as shafts, couplings and shaft-hub connections – in a flexible manner tailored to the respective test task. We record the number of vibration cycles achieved up to the point of failure of the test specimen. Based on this data, we can derive specific service lives or, if a sufficient number of tests has been carried out, also plot Wöhler curves. Our department would be happy to support you in carrying out and evaluating your tests with our expertise and professional services.
