High-speed brake test bench
High-speed brake friction test rig: Investigation of braking processes at speeds of up to 20,000 rpm
The high-speed brake friction test rig enables detailed investigations of friction pairs during braking manoeuvres at speeds of up to 20,000 rpm. With an appropriate friction radius, sliding speeds of up to 100 m/s and higher are achieved, providing excellent opportunities for investigating high-speed friction.
The modular test rig can be operated in various configurations to meet individual requirements. The inertia to be braked can be simulated by the synchronous servo motor up to the maximum motor torque. Any moment of inertia can be flexibly simulated. The braking torque is recorded and used to calculate the speed curve during the braking process.
Alternatively, a flywheel module with a physical flywheel can be installed to accommodate higher braking torques. Furthermore, two high-speed gearboxes with different gear ratios are available to adapt the torque and speed range to specific requirements.
Using this test rig enables the generation of important data that provides detailed insights into the development of the coefficient of friction between friction partners at high sliding speeds and over long slip times. In addition to torque and speed, contact force, displacements and temperatures can be recorded, depending on the brake geometry.
The high-speed brake friction test rig is therefore an important tool for the development and optimisation of brakes, ensuring safe and effective braking performance under various conditions. With its wide range of configuration options, it offers a flexible solution for various application scenarios in the automotive and industrial sectors.
