Mr. Fisch (Managing Director) of BTM EUROPE Blechverbindungstechnik GmbH invited the LWF's Mechanical Joining Technology Section to Brilon to discuss common topics.
BTM takes over the production of simple tools up to the sophisticated automation of production lines in the field of mechanical joining technology. One focus here is on clinching, which is used to join sheet metal and profiles reliably, cost-effectively and without the application of heat by local forming. At the site in Brilon, BTM manufactures turnkey systems including control technology and PLC programming.
After the presentation of the current fields of activity and challenges in the area of joining technology by Mr. Fisch, there was a lively exchange about the current state of research (e.g. use of clinching for the production of electrically conductive connections). Afterwards, Mr. Fisch guided the LWF employees through the production and was able to demonstrate two new production lines live. One plant as a system solution for the production of covers for kitchen exhaust systems and one plant for the fully automatic joining of gutter brackets.
The in-depth insights into BTM's activities enabled the LWF to see the practical application and relevance of its own research areas. This consolidates the basis for further successful cooperation between research and application.
A joint evening program of the LWF staff in Brilon rounded off the excursion after the visit to BTM Maschinen- und Steuerungsbau GmbH.
The LWF would like to thank BTM for the impressive day.
