On September 26, 2018, an excursion to Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH in Salzgitter took place as part of the lecture event "Joining of Lightweight Materials".
After an introduction to the company by Dr. Schmale from Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung GmbH, the students had the opportunity to visit the steel mill. In addition to the blast furnace, the steelworks and the hot rolling mill were also visited.
The excursion was a complete success for all participants.
