In the framework of the EFB WebColloquium 2022, the EFB President Dipl.-Ing. Klaus Linnig (Schuler Pressen GmbH) awarded the project prize of the European Research Association for Sheet Metal Processing e.V. (EFB). The EFB Project Award was presented for the 13th time this year and is aimed at young scientists who have worked on an EFB project in an outstanding manner, both scientifically and technically, and who have advanced research in sheet metal processing by completing the project.
The EFB Project Award 2021 goes to Mr. Moritz Rossel from the Laboratory for Material and Joining Technology (LWF®) for his work on the project "Simulation of mechanical joining processes under consideration of joining specific friction values" (20235N). A holistic method was developed, starting with the experimental friction coefficient determination via the model development up to the multi-stage validation of the friction models, in order to increase the prediction quality of mechanical joining process simulations. The method has been successfully proven for the joining process simulation of semi-tubular self-piercing riveting and clinching.
