From 25 to 28 June 2019, the entire LWF® chair met for the annual strategy meeting in Gothenburg. In the course of this meeting, the specialist groups, together with chair holder Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gerson Meschut, developed the strategic orientation. In addition, cross-departmental synergy effects were identified and integrated into the chair's operations.
A visit to the Volvo Car Corporation was also on the agenda. Gerson Meschut gave a presentation on the LWF's main research topics to the interested Volvo staff. Afterwards, Volvo gave the LWF an exciting insight into joining technology at Volvo. Here, important impulses were gained from industrial practice. The series of lectures concluded with an intensive exchange of information on joining technology. Finally, the LWF had the opportunity to get to know Volvo's production during a factory tour. The main focus was on body shell construction, joining technology and final assembly.
