Successful foundation of the start-up FractureSurfaceTechnologies from the LWF

The two scientists Michael Ditz and Dr.-Ing. Jan Ditter from the Laboratory for Material and Joining Technology (LWF) under the direction of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gerson Meschut have developed an evaluation system for users of adhesive bonding technology based on a successfully completed publicly funded project. Their start-up FractureSurfaceTechnologies was founded on March 4th and supports industrial companies in analysing the failure pattern of adhesive bonds.

Adhesive bonds enable the production of innovative lightweight structures with optimal utilisation of material properties and thus sustainable resource savings. For release processes of new adhesives and materials, many thousands of specimens often have to be produced, tested and the fracture surfaces evaluated. The analysis system of the LWF start-up FractureSurfaceTechnologies enables a reproducible, objective and fast evaluation of the fracture surfaces.

In addition to the LWF, the start-up is supported by the Paderborn University's start-up centre (TecUP). The start-up team is funded by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in the Start-Up Transfer.NRW programme. In addition, FractureSurfaceTechnologies was nominated for the Innovation Award of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia 2021 in the category "outstanding young researchers".
