Four members of our chair attended the 2026 MRS Spring Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii, and presented current research results in the fields of additive manufacturing, materials characterization, and functionally integrated component development.
Arndt Cassens presented research on the influence of layer thickness on the microstructural development of AlSi10Mg in the laser powder bed fusion process. Christian Bödger presented methods for characterizing and quantifying the anisotropic properties of additively manufactured AlSi10Mg components. Dennis Lehnert spoke about approaches to the topological optimization of multi-material components with a special focus on interfaces. Philipp Pabel presented an additively manufactured, fully integrated flexible locking mechanism for automatic clutch systems.
Participation in the MRS Spring Meeting offered the PhD students an excellent opportunity for international scientific exchange as well as for discussing current developments in additive manufacturing and materials research.
