Residual stresses II: Analysis and evaluation of the effects of residual stresses on dam-age evolution in intrinsically manufactured polymer–metal laminates under static and cyclic loading
Overview
The “Residual Stresses II” project aims to investigate the influence of residual stresses induced during manufacturing on the structural behaviour of polymer–metal hybrid laminates under mechanical loading. The analysis primarily focuses on damage evolution under static and cyclic loading conditions. Fundamental correlations between residual stresses, defects, and the resulting service life will be derived. Regarding the intended application fields of hybrid material systems, particular attention will be given to the effect of active fibre pre-stressing on damage mechanisms in the presence of residual stress states. Furthermore, a central research objective is to examine the sensitivity of the residual stress distribution at the interface to fibre waviness and its impact on the onset and localization of damage by means of numerical simulation.
