Welcome to the Chair of Forming and Machining Technology
At the Chair of Forming and Machining Technology (LUF), we work intensively on the further development of production technology, particularly forming technology. Our research activities focus on the design, investigation and optimisation of processes, tools and machines for the flexible and efficient production and targeted property adjustment of workpieces made from sheet metal and profiles. Examples of our process engineering specialisations are
- Incremental forming processes in which universal tools are used for the kinematic shaping of a workpiece,
- High-speed forming processes,
- Forming processes based on active media, in which fluids replace or supplement the effect of rigid tools,
- Hybrid forming processes,
- Energy and resource efficiency through the targeted utilisation of friction effects.
