Electrochemically assisted joining of sheet materials (ECUF)
Overview
As part of the research project, a new forming joining process, electrochemically assisted joining (ECUF), is being fundamentally investigated. By using an incremental active principle and a special electrochemical inline pre-treatment, existing restrictions of current press welding processes (such as roll cladding) are to be overcome in terms of flexibility, possible material combinations or joint geometries.
The characterisation and analysis of the produced joint is the basis for a targeted adaptation and further development of the joining process and its parameters. This new joining process is intended to expand the range of applications with regard to the efficient production of partially joined lightweight structures made of metallic materials.
