Introductory Internship in Sustainable Mechanical Engineering

Aim of the event

Students are able to familiarise themselves with technical issues and evaluate them both qualitatively and quantitatively as part of a team.
They can apply the practical knowledge they have learnt to the development of technical systems and identify the necessary interrelationships for themselves. Working in groups helps to further develop their ability to work as part of a team.
Students are able to tackle simple project tasks in small teams and to present and record the conduct of an experiment and its results in a concise, well-structured and comprehensible manner.

Dr Sascha Schiller

Coursetype:

Internship

Organisational unit:

Mechanical Engineering

Listed in the timetable:

Introductory course

Language of instruction:

German

Min. | Max. number of participants: - | -

Prerequisites and recommendations:

None

Target group:

First-semester students in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

Content:

A total of five experiments are carried out from a pool of various experiments assigned to the technical specialisations of the study programme.
Each experiment addresses different problems in the field of ‘wind turbines’, and practical sessions are on offer with the following main focuses, amongst others:

- Tower construction
- Joining and laminating wind turbine blades
- Welding of components
- Fluid mechanics
- Wind tracking
- Environmental impact and assessment

At the end, several groups work together to build a functional wind turbine model.

Information on course delivery:

The course is completed upon successful attendance.
Further information: see the module handbook.

Reading list:

To be announced at the start of the course.

Important notes:

A central introductory session will take place at the start of the semester, providing a great deal of important information on how the placement will be organised; attendance is compulsory.
