Faculty Best Paper Award
The ‘Faculty Best Paper Award’ is intended to recognise outstanding publications by early-career researchers at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering on an annual basis.
Eligibility criteria:
For the purposes of this call for entries, ‘papers’ are defined as academic articles in German or English that have been published in a peer-reviewed journal during the current year.
Only authors who were members of staff at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the time the publication was accepted by the publisher and who had not yet taken their doctoral examination are eligible for the award. The submitting person must be the principal author of the submitted paper. This can be demonstrated by the author being listed as the ‘corresponding author’ by the journal, by them being the principal investigator of the research project referred to in the acknowledgements, or by an informal confirmation from the head of the chair.
The prize money amounts to €500 for the award winner and €1,500 as a grant for the research group to publicise the results. The award ceremony will take place this year as part of the faculty’s graduation ceremony (9 January 2026 from 4 pm).
Entries must consist of the final version of the paper in PDF format, together with the electronic contact details of the other co-authors. Should the award ceremony go ahead, the co-authors will be informed by the jury. The deadline for submitting these documents for the relevant academic year is 31 October 2025!
