Welcome to Direct Manufacturing Research Center

The Direct Manufacturing Research Center (DMRC), a transfer institute based at the University of Paderborn, conducts research to establish the additive process chain as a robust industrial production process. Here, technology-leading industrial companies work hand in hand with researchers at the university to industrialize additive manufacturing. The entire additive value chain from raw material production to manufacturing and application is covered by large as well as small and medium-sized companies. The structure of the DMRC is very flexible and interdisciplinary; based on the current research topics, the constellation of the chairs involved in the DMRC can be changed.

Currently, 11 different chairs with 12 professors and a large number of research assistants work together in the DMRC.
Depending on the research question and the time horizon, the industrial partners of the DMRC or public funding organizations finance research projects, which are then carried out at the University of Paderborn. The projects jointly funded by the DMRC consortium are steered and controlled here by the industry partners. This allows all partners to achieve the greatest possible benefit in terms of industrialization of DMRC research results.
