Lehrer*innen an beruflichen Schulen erteilen allgemein bildenden, berufstheoretischen und berufspraktischen Unterricht. Sie vermitteln ihren Schüler*innen vor allem Kenntnisse und Fertigkeiten, aufgrund derer sie in ihrem Beruf sachverständig und durchdacht handeln und sich später weiterbilden können.

Teaching position at technical colleges
Teachers at technical colleges provide general education, work theoretical and work practical knowledge.

You can study in order to be a teacher at vocational colleges in two ways:
Vocational Subject Mechanical engineering technology for teaching positions at the university of Paderborn; Bachelor of Education (B. supra E.), Master of Education (M. supra E.)
You may study mechanical engineering technology for teaching positions in combination with in form of a general educational subject. It mediates in the bachelor's study and in the master study, building up on base fields like mathematics, physics, chemistry and mechanics, the qualities of materials and the bases of the machine being and the construction.
You are prepared by the study of specialised didactic aspects of this special professional field and more in general education-scientific bases on the application than teacher in an occupational lecture. Occupational schoolteachers of the field Mechanical engineering technology can inform, for example, beginning industrial mechanics and investment mechanics, metal farmer or technical draftsmen.

Master of Education (M. supra E.)
You may apply for the the master degree course for teaching positions at technical colleges if you finished a bachelor's degree (at least 6 semestres) in the area of mechanical engineering. Moreover, 6 credit points from the area of subject didactics and at least 18 credit points from the area of educational sciences / vocational education (incl. vocational internship and orientation internship) must be approved.

Lehramt an Berufskollegs mit der Großen beruflichen Fachrichtung Maschinenbautechnik in Kombination mit der Kleinen beruflichen Fachrichtung Fertigungstechnik: Master of Education (M. o. E.)
In den Masterstudiengang Lehramt an Berufskollegs kann eingeschrieben werden, wer einen Bachelorstudiengang (mind. 6 Semester) im Bereich Maschinenbau abgeschlossen hat. Außerdem müssen 6 Leistungspunkte aus dem Bereich Fachdidaktik und mindestens 18 Leistungspunkte aus dem Bereich Bildungswissenschaften / Berufspädagogik (inkl. Berufsfeldpraktikum und Orientierungspraktikum) nachgewiesen werden. Fehlende Anteile können bis zur Meldung zur Masterarbeit nachgeholt werden. Studierende, die den Bachelorstudiengang Maschinenbau an der Universität Paderborn mit berufsbildenden Anteilen studieren, erfüllen diese Zulassungsvoraussetzungen.
