Felix Knaup was honoured with the Best Technical Paper Award in the Extrusion category at the Annual Technical Conference (ANTEC25) of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) in Philadelphia. His paper:
"Improving an Analytical Model of Melting in Single Screw Extruders Considering the Delay Zone Length"
contributes to improving the predictive accuracy of simulations used for the design of single screw extruders. The paper specifically examines how the porosity of the solids bed influences melt gain in the extruder and extends a model for predicting gate length.
The research was supported by impulses and fundamental preliminary work by Dr Florian Brüning.
