Information day for pupils at the KTP

On 14 November 2019, Kunststofftechnik Paderborn once again held an information day for pupils. This time, students from the Q2 of the Ostendorf-Gymnasium in Lippstadt, who are about to complete their A-levels, were welcomed. The info days serve to give a comprehensive insight into the study of mechanical engineering with a focus on plastics technology.

In a 45-minute lecture, the theoretical basics of various plastics technology processes were explained. The next item on the programme was a transition from theory to practice. The 22 upper school students were given an insight into 3D printing technology in the StudentLab 3D and were able to experience non-destructive (computer tomography) and destructive (tensile test) testing methods for plastics in the test laboratory. Furthermore, further impressions for the subject complex of plastics technology could be gathered during the production of small purchasing chips in the injection moulding process and during the production of film by means of a blown film line.

Finally, the pupils were able to take a brief look at the everyday life of a student during a subsequent tour of the Paderborn campus and the University of Paderborn.

We would like to thank the pupils from the Ostendorf-Gymnasium for the interesting discussions and hope to be able to welcome some of them as students at Kunststofftechnik Paderborn in the coming years.
