As part of the ‘Rubber Processing’ class, the Kunststofftechnik Paderborn (KTP) programme, together with students from Paderborn University, visited the Continental plant in Korbach on 13 July.
Whilst there, the participants gained comprehensive insights into the production process for passenger car tyres. Starting in the mixing hall, where product-specific rubber compounds are produced, the group were able to observe the individual stages of tyre production and directly link these to the class content.
In addition to tyre production for passenger cars and industrial applications, the Korbach site also manufactures hoses and tubing for industrial applications. This gave the students further insights into other areas of rubber processing and their industrial applications.
