All-rounder for Paderborn location

For targeted university research and further development of the training of plastics engineers, Kunststofftechnik Paderborn, University of Paderborn, is getting a new electric injection moulding machine from Arburg, Lossburg. It is a complete production unit consisting of an electric Allrounder 370 A with an integrated Multilift Select robotic system and a Thermolift 100 material dryer and conveyor.

"Due to the excellent training of young people in the field of plastics technology, Arburg is supporting the university location of Paderborn with this production cell," says Arburg Area Sales Manager Holger Plegge.

The Allrounder 370 A with a clamping force of 600 kN and a size 170 injection unit will be used in both teaching and research and will help to deepen the academic training and practical basics of plastics processing at the institute. Furthermore, practical training, education and training measures will take place at the production cell. In order to also be able to gather important knowledge for entry into automated production, the machine is equipped with a Multilift Select Robot system for part feeding, removal and placement, which is completely programmed via the universal Selogica machine control system. The production cell is completed by a Thermolift for material drying and automated conveying, including a mixing diverter for colour batches, for example.

The Allrounder will primarily be used to process recycled thermoplastics. Among other things, processing parameters are to be recorded and analysed. An intelligent control system is to compensate for the product fluctuations of recycled materials in order to be able to produce defect-free components. Due to the thus improved institute equipment, there is now also the opportunity to apply for additional new projects as well as to gain valuable insights into already ongoing projects.
