Laura Austermeier wins "Best Technical Paper Award" at ANTEC24 (Annual Technical Conference) of the SPE (Society of Plastic Engineers) in St. Louis.
In her research, Laura Austermeier deals with the energy input in co-rotating twin-screw extruders along the extruder screws and the difference between the screws. For her paper on "Load Differences Between the Screws in the Solids Conveying Zone of a Co-Rotating Twin Screw Extruder", she was awarded the prize for the best technical paper in the Extrusion Division.
The paper investigated the difference in torque and energy input between the screws in the solids conveying zone of thermoplastics in a twin screw extruder as a function of shape, size and friction coefficients.
