We are very pleased to welcome Marco De Santis as a new research associate and doctoral candidate to our team.
Mr De Santis completed both his Bachelor's and Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering at Paderborn University with a focus on lightweight construction with hybrid systems. In his master's thesis, he focussed on the sustainability assessment of large maritime structures and in particular investigated the use of hybrid materials with regard to life cycle analysis and recyclability. His work combines technical expertise with a clear view of ecological issues.
Since 1 July 2025, Mr De Santis has been strengthening our chair in research and teaching.
As part of his planned doctorate, he is working on the sustainable transformation of industrial processes - with a particular focus on the mobility sector. He is investigating innovative material and manufacturing concepts in terms of their contribution to the energy transition and achieving climate targets. The combination of technical innovation and ecological responsibility is at the centre of his scientific work.
We warmly welcome Mr De Santis and look forward to working with him and to new impulses in research and teaching!
