We are very pleased to welcome Reem Shaheen as a new postdoctoral researcher at our chair.
Ms Shaheen received her PhD from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), Hungary, at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in the Department of Energy Engineering. In her doctoral dissertation entitled "Make-up Water Preparation of Power Plants", she focussed intensively on water treatment technologies for power plants. She combined sound engineering principles with practical solutions in the field of energy and environmental technology.
Parallel to her doctorate, she worked as an Assistant Researcher and Lecturer and taught Mechanical Engineering students while conducting research in the field of Energy Engineering. Her work is characterised by a strong methodological foundation in thermodynamics and heat transfer, which informs both her teaching and research. She combines this theoretical foundation with applied research on water treatment and green energy technologies, with a particular focus on system fficiency, process optimisation and sustainability assessment.
She joined our team as a postdoctoral researcher on 26 January 2026. Among other things, she is currently working on a cooperation initiative with the Technical University of Munich and on topics relating to the circular economy. From April, she will also be teaching the Circular Economy class for Master's students.
With her research, Ms Shaheen is pursuing the long-term goal of developing sustainable engineering systems that consistently support the principles of sustainability and the circular economy.
We warmly welcome Ms Shaheen and look forward to working together and to new impulses in research and teaching!
