Lightweight Construction with Hybrid Systems
Hybrid systems offer a particularly high potential for a holistic and innovative lightweight construction approach by varying the properties of different high-performance materials locally and in line with the load. This is becoming increasingly essential in all branches of industry in which moving masses play a role. These include in particular the major sectors of automotive, aircraft and rail vehicle construction.
The specialisation focuses on teaching the concept of lightweight construction with hybrid materials. Corresponding principles of a material and structural nature provide the necessary framework as well as an orientation and categorisation aid. The necessary feasibility and synergies with intelligent and lightweight product and structural design are considered in conjunction with the manufacturing technology background.
As an important element with a unique interdisciplinary character, it is recommended that the elective module "Chemistry and Physics of Lightweight Construction Materials" be combined with the natural sciences. The scientific principles for the production, analysis and properties of interfaces are addressed here.
